Privacy Policy

This policy explains what PokerWise (“we”, “the app”) collects, why, and the choices you have. PokerWise is a tool for tracking home poker buy-ins and settling up. It is operated by PokerWise, based in the United Kingdom.

What we collect

If you play as a guest: only the display name you type. It stays on your device and is shown on the tables you join, so other players know who is who. No email, no account.

If you sign in: when you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that provider, and use them to create your account and show your profile at the table. If you sign in with a one-time email code instead, we store your email address.

Gameplay data: the tables you create or join, plus buy-ins, rebuys, cash-outs, and the resulting balances. This is the core function of the app.

Cookies & local storage

We keep this to a minimum. No advertising and no cross-site tracking, and we never sell your data. Here is what we set or use:

  • Session cookie: set when you use the app, to keep you signed in (including the secure sign-in handshake with Google or Discord). Strictly necessary; the app cannot function without it. Provided by our authentication service, Supabase.
  • Local storage (“pot.name”): your guest display name, kept on your device so you do not have to retype it. It never leaves your browser except as your name on a table you join.

Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages are visited and how the app is used. It is aggregate and privacy-friendly: it sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personal data.

Because the items above are either strictly necessary or set nothing on your device, we do not show a cookie-consent banner. If we ever add optional tracking that needs consent, we will ask first.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the app work:

  • Supabase: hosts our database, authentication, and file storage (your profile photo).
  • Google & Discord: used only if you choose to sign in with them, to verify your identity.
  • Vercel: hosts the app and provides our cookieless analytics.

How long we keep it

Gameplay data is kept so your history and balances stay available. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your account and this device's guest data. Guest data on a device clears when you clear your browser storage.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU or UK GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You can also delete your account yourself in Settings.

Children

PokerWise is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, give notice in the app.
